BMD approaches every design with an established process that includes the customer throughout each phase. The design process starts with the concept phase where BMD works closely with their customer to fully understand all of the requirements and criteria that they wish to have incorporated into their individual yacht. This process includes the conceptual designs for the exterior styling, interior arrangements, space planning, mechanical systems and vessel performance calculations as well as vessel specifications. The conceptual design provides a requirement and regulatory compliant concept package ready for detailed design.

The detailed design phase expands upon the conceptual design and finalizes all of the details necessary in providing a completed design package inclusive of technical drawings, schematics and necessary design documentation. This detailed design includes such items as the hull form and outfitting design, all structural and mechanical attributes, and stability analysis. Additionally, BMD will work closely with the owner’s specified interior designer to ensure that the layout and features are situated in an aesthetically pleasing way while meeting all safety and regulatory requirements. Again, this process is completed with the customer in mind and accordingly the customer is invited to be part of the design review and technical process.

One of the issues that can impact an on-time completion is lack of oversight and architectural technical support during the construction process.
